Pike-perch (Sander lucioperca) is a fish in the perch family.
It has an elongated body with a length of up to 1 meter, weight between 6 and 12 kilos. The color of the zander is light grey-brown. On the back it is a little darker and on the sides and belly lighter in grey-white or yellow-white. On the sides there are darker transverse spots which are most evident in young fish.
The gosling lives in slow-flowing watercourses, lakes and bays all over Europe with a not too high salinity. The zander had its original habitat in Eastern Europe. The gosling is a predatory fish, and the stronger tooth structure suggests that it surpasses the perch. It spawns in late May or early June. Goose is considered an excellent food fish.
In Västmanland, the pike-perch is a landscape fish. It does not occur throughout Sweden. It is missing on Gotland, except in a small lake where a trial was carried out, and in the mountain world.
Swedish sport fishing record is 12,007 kilos.
