Fishing rights and fishing have long been a valuable resource on farms in Småland. There is no available documentation on how the fishing in Lake Exen was managed and distributed between the fishing right owners concerned at the time of the turn of the last century. But it can be assumed that management was mainly carried out within the respective village teams without any direct coordination with neighboring village water bodies. Co-ordinated management of fishing waters was generally lacking at the time.
Exens FVOF
Exen's fisheries management association was probably formed in the 1930s and Viktor Tykesson was the association's first chairman. The reason why the association was formed is not known, but it can be assumed that there was a need for a common forum to manage, nurture and fairly distribute the fisheries in Lake Exen. Verbal information claims that the same fishing waters as in today's fishery conservation area were covered by the fishery conservation association. The association then survived until 1979, when Lake Exen's fisheries management area was formed.
